Marianne Friese kam vor mehr als 15 Jahren nach China. Ihr chinesischer Name: 玛莉莲 lautet in westlicher Umschrift: MǎLìLián. Das bedeutet: Jade, Jasmin, Lotus. Genau wie ihr Name kombiniert Marianne kontrastierende Elemente: Ost und West, hart und weich, laut und leise, taktil und visuell. Diese Kontraste entfachen die visuelle und sinnliche Extravaganz ihrer Unikate.
1988 hat MaLiLian, beziehungsweise Marianne, ihr erstes Sofa während ihrer Zeit in Los Angeles kreiert. In den 90er Jahren vertiefte sie ihre Fähigkeiten und professionalisierte ihre technischen Kenntnisse in Deutschland, wo sie weitere Objekte designte und fertigen ließ. Nach ihrem Umzug nach China im Jahr 2001 gaben ihr die neuen Eindrücke und kulturellen Einflüsse einen wahren Schub an kreativer Kraft. Sofas, Sessel und Kissen - die Kollektion wurde belebt durch leuchtende Farben und außergewöhnliche Muster, oft eine brillante Kombination aus beiden.

Carpets are best experienced barefoot. As all MaLiLian creations focus on touch and feel, MaLiLian carpets are a pure pleasure for their texture and haptics. Size and design vary, and adaptations of existing designs are also possible based on your desires and needs. Just let your imagination run wild.
MaLiLian carpets are manufactured at workshops specializing in small editions and premium-quality productions. Maximum care is given to each piece as they are produced one-by-one under the strict supervision of the designer.
